メッセージ

Fashion is a global dialogue that is at the intersection of multiple cultural and social factors. It’s impossible to think about fashion without also considering its history, contexts, and future. Ultimately, I’d like to encourage students to look beyond what we see on the surface, and constantly question the world around them with curiosity and an open mind.

Profile

ニューヨーク生まれ、日系アメリカ人。パーソンズ美術大学でイラストレーションを、クーパー・ユニオンにてタイプデザインを学ぶ。現在はバーモント美術大学でグラフィックデザインの修士号を取得中。2017年より拠点を東京に移し、グラフィックデザイナーとして活動。2022年に独立し、「Studio RAN」を設立。著書には、日本のデザイン業界における構造的な白人至上主義と西洋化の歴史と文脈についてリサーチをもとに書いた『サラリーマンはなぜサーフボードを抱えるのか？』（Bathboys湯）など。
